Quick Overview

Recreation of an 18th century Brussels Goddess of Spring Tapestry.

Description

Recreated from Lodwijk van Schoor’s “spring”. Two winged personifications of April and May sit on the steps of a garden pavilion. The sun enters Taurus in April and here April drapes garlands over Taurus, the bull. As April, May puts her arm around Gemini. The third figure descending the stairs in a swirl of drapery represents Flora, the spirit of spring bringing roses, jonquils and narcissus to the garden.
