“Verdure with Bird” is an elegant verdure tapestry in the style of those woven in the 18th century in Brussels, one of the chief tapestry weaving towns at the time. In this period landscapes with trees, birds and rivers were popular and often included graceful architectural frames. Here we see the beautiful foliage of an elegant northern countryside. In the distance is the architecture of a period castle sprawling over a range of hills. In the foreground we see a duck enjoying the waters of a stream and a small waterfall.
