A dramatic antique Kirman rug of an unusual size. The powder blue field filled with flowers surrounding a central medallion in navy and ivory surrounded by a border with peach elements. Kirman is the capital of the province in south Persia of the same name. Situated 2000 meters above sea level. As elsewhere in Persia carpet weaving declined during the 18th century and was revived during the second half of the 19th century, since when Kirman carpets have enjoyed a considerable reputation.
