Antique circa 1880 Caucasian Dagestan Prayer Rug. The delightful floral elements on the ivory ground together with the multiple borders in a variety of designs styles and colors create a rug which will bring brightness to any room. Dagestan is located inside Russia in the North of Caucasia, up until the 19th century it fell under the control of Persia, so the Persian influence can be seen in the weavings although they are of course tribal rugs and this is reflected within the designs.
