A highly desirable antique circa 1880 hand woven Cloudband Kazak rug, from south west Caucasia. The cloudband elements in ivory and rust resemble the undulation of clouds and have been used over the centuries by weavers throughout the Middle East. The soft blue field, with cloudbands and encompassed by a delightful soft rust diamond style design which has within some amusing primitive designs and floral elements. The four corner spandrels also make use of wonderfully unsophisticated designs that create the charm of this piece. The main ivory border and guard borders set the rug off to perfection.
