From eastern Caucasia a handwoven antique Alpan Kuba rug circa 1890. The wonderful tribal designs in the center comprising of three distinct areas in shades of green, rust and blue split by four distinctive crab design rows, surrounded by an ivory border with amusingly a goat woven in and enclosed within multiple guard borders. The Caucasus Mountains, between Persia and Russia are justly famous for their colorful, geometric antique scatter rugs and this is a fine example.
